San Diego State University (SDSU) experts continue their efforts to advance professional development for kindergarten staff in Georgia. Professors Nancy Frey and James Marshal recently joined the I2Q Project team in Dedoplistskaro Municipality, one of the pilot regions where a series of training sessions for early education personnel is underway.

Dedoplistskaro Mayor Mr. Nikoloz Janiashvili and Ms. Irma Janasvili, Head of the Kindergarten Management Agency, led productive discussions with the international experts, focusing on current initiatives to strengthen early childhood education management and enhance the quality of programs in Dedoplistskaro.

These sessions, attended by educators from 18 public kindergartens across the municipality, include practical training modules and mentoring directly within the classroom setting. Both parties discussed the importance of ongoing professional development and collaboration, agreeing on future steps to ensure effective support for the initiative.

Mayor Janiashvili expressed full support for the project’s goals, including piloting performance-based salary policies, advancing the new data reporting system for early education, and fostering a framework for continuous teacher development. SDSU experts also took the opportunity to meet with local educators, observe the training, and gain firsthand insight into its impact on daily educational practices in kindergartens.

This collaborative effort marks an important milestone in Dedoplistskaro’s commitment to elevating early education standards and supporting the professional growth of its kindergarten personnel.
