With the support of the World Bank under the I2Q Project, San Diego State University is making significant strides in the enhancement of early childhood and preschool education in Georgia. In collaboration with SDSURF, a comprehensive professional development training cycle was conducted for administrative and educational staff in kindergartens across six target municipalities.
Following the initial round of coaching, a survey indicated that kindergarten educators highlighted the necessity for additional coaching sessions. In response to this feedback, SDSU has committed to further supporting the educators in Gori Municipality by providing the same 30 kindergartens with an additional 10 days of coaching sessions.
On March 19, 2025, a meeting took place with the trained administrative and educational staff from Gori Municipality kindergartens. SDSU experts led discussions on a range of critical topics, including curriculum design and objectives, research and inquiry-based learning, children's self-regulation, conflict resolution, fostering children's interests, social awareness, play-based learning, sensorimotor development, and developmental differences across age groups. Educators actively participated in group tasks and presented their findings and insights during the session.
