On February 15, experts from the San Diego State University held a collaborative meeting with local counterparts to discuss upcoming initiatives.
During the meeting, the SDSURF team presented a detailed action plan for piloting professional development trainings for educational and administrative staff of early childhood education and care institutions. Scheduled for March through July 2024, these trainings and mentoring sessions will be conducted in six selected municipalities: Gori, Lanchkhuti, Vani, Zugdidi, Dedoplistskaro, and Akhalkalaki.
Key topics discussed included:
- Piloting an updated salary policy aimed at enhancing retention and performance in the sector.
- Introducing a new data reporting system to improve institutional accountability and quality assurance.
- Testing the updated school readiness program, designed to better prepare children for primary education.
Following the pilot phase, SDSU experts will provide recommendations for developing a comprehensive long-term action plan to further support early childhood education and care in Georgia.
These initiatives are part of the I2Q Project, implemented with support from the World Bank, highlighting a commitment to sustainable improvements in education management and program quality.
The next SDSU working visit to Georgia is scheduled for March 2024, continuing this vital collaboration.
