Curriculum “P.L.A.Y”
Curriculum “P.L.A.Y” is an updated methodological guide developed within the framework of the Innovation, Inclusion and Quality – Georgia I2Q (WB) project by SDSU local and California-based experts. The guide aims to strengthen early and preschool education management systems across Georgia and improve the quality of programs for young children.
The curriculum follows a holistic approach, giving equal importance to all areas of child development, including social, emotional, cognitive, motor, and creative skills. It is designed for children from the age of two up to school entry, and it works for both age-specific and mixed-age groups. The guide also features an updated school readiness program to foster curiosity, creativity, and other essential skills that prepare children for a successful transition to school.
Practical examples, real-life scenarios, updated planning templates, and video demonstrations from Georgian early and preschool education institutions make the guide a hands-on resource for educators. Although translating the guide into Armenian and Azerbaijani was not part of SDSU’s contractual work, these versions were completed so that ethnic minority communities can also benefit.
The guide has been distributed to 58 municipalities across Georgia, and electronic versions are available via the TPDC e-portal and the National Library of Georgia, where it can be read online or downloaded free of charge.
