SDSU Leadership Concludes Final I2Q Project Steering Board Meeting in Georgia

On February 10, 2026, the final Steering Board meeting of the I2Q Project took place during the visit of San Diego State University (SDSU) Early Childhood Education (ECE) Leadership to Georgia. The meeting was opened by Tamar Chkonia, ECE Component Lead of the I2Q Project, who outlined the agenda and objectives.

Professors Nancy Frey and James Marshall of SDSU presented a comprehensive report summarizing the outcomes of the 43-month collaboration, which focused on strengthening management systems and improving program quality in early childhood education nationwide. The team highlighted additional activities undertaken beyond the project’s original scope, which significantly enhanced its overall impact.

Two key documents were presented:

  • Revised Curriculum – “P.L.A.Y.”: Centered on the principles of group unity and research-based discovery, the curriculum introduces innovative approaches to early childhood education.
  • Final Report: A detailed analysis of project activities, outcomes, and strategic recommendations for nationwide implementation of the developed mechanisms.

SDSU leaders expressed gratitude to the Steering Group for their support and collaboration, emphasizing that the project’s success resulted from coordinated efforts by all stakeholders. They reaffirmed their commitment to remaining actively engaged in future joint initiatives.

This visit and final meeting highlighted the strong partnership between SDSU and Georgian early childhood education institutions and underscored a shared commitment to advancing educational quality and sustainable practices nationwide.

During the visit, Professors Frey and Marshall also met with the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth to review the significant progress made in enhancing early childhood education quality and to discuss strategies for ensuring its long-term sustainability.
