Second Round of Early Childhood Education Coaching Begins in Zugdidi Municipality

Following the highly positive feedback from the initial phase of training, the SDSU Early Childhood Education (ECE) team has launched the second round of coaching sessions in Zugdidi Municipality, which began on October 15 and will conclude on October 27.

This phase engages 60 caregiver-pedagogues and 30 kindergarten directors from selected early education institutions. The initiative aims to strengthen the practical application of evidence-based teaching approaches introduced during the 2024 training cycle.

The 10-day, in-person program focuses on child-centered learning, effective observation and assessment strategies, and building strong partnerships with families. Each kindergarten benefits from two extended two-hour coaching visits, offering individualized feedback, practical tasks, and opportunities to reinforce effective pedagogical methods.

The Zugdidi round was officially opened by Ms. Lela Grigolaia, Kindergarden Union Methodist and Dr. Nodar Surguladze, SDSU ECE Project Local Coordinator.

Each coaching cycle begins with a session to revisit key concepts, clarify objectives, and plan implementation. Trainers then conduct on-site observations to provide tailored support, while the concluding session brings participants together to review progress, exchange experiences, and develop recommendations for continued professional growth.

This structured coaching framework strengthens educators’ professional competencies, builds confidence and motivation, and promotes long-term mastery of effective teaching practices, building on the foundation established during the previous training phase.
