Based on the survey outcomes from the previous training sessions, San Diego State University (SDSU) initiated the third round of professional coaching in Gori. The first day of this training primarily focused on lessons learned from the previous sessions, allowing participants to reflect on their experiences and apply insights to enhance their practices.
The opening session was attended by 30 kindergarten caregivers, with two representatives from each kindergarten, as well as the head of the kindergarten union and municipal representatives. The aim was to provide a comprehensive overview of the training objectives and the expected outcomes, fostering collaboration among all stakeholders involved.
Following the initial session, a 10-day intensive training period was organized. During this phase, the trainer visited each kindergarten twice to observe the day-to-day activities, assess how caregivers were implementing the knowledge gained during prior sessions, and identify the specific needs and challenges faced by each kindergarten. This hands-on observation allowed the trainer to tailor the support provided to the unique requirements of each institution, ensuring that the training was both practical and responsive to real-world conditions.
The final summative event took place on April 15, where participants had the opportunity to discuss the progress made during the training, share their experiences, and identify areas for further development. This collaborative event served as a platform for feedback and reflection, helping to solidify the lessons learned and chart the next steps for continued improvement.
Although this round of training was conducted outside the official scope of work defined in SDSU’s contractual obligations, San Diego State University made a strategic decision to implement it as an added value to the project. SDSU is commited to support the continuous professional development of kindergarten caregivers and to enhance the overall quality of early childhood education in Georgia.
Building on the success of this training initiative, SDSU will expand its support to an additional 15 kindergartens in the Gori municipality, starting on May 14. This will allow more caregivers to benefit from professional coaching and further strengthen the quality of early childhood education in the region.
