As part of the I2Q Project, experts from San Diego State University are making significant strides in improving the management systems and program quality of early childhood and preschool education institutions across Georgia.

During their latest visit on November 12, the experts participated in a milestone event—the First Annual Conference—held on November 14 at the Tbilisi Marriott. This gathering brought together international and local experts, stakeholders, and policymakers to review achievements, share insights, and outline future plans for advancing early childhood education in Georgia.

In addition to the conference, the SDSURF team engaged in key discussions and meetings with various stakeholders and institutions:

  • Quality Assurance Reporting System: Consultations with education management representatives focused on developing and piloting a reporting system to enhance data-driven quality assurance practices.
  • Training and Retraining of Quality Assurance Experts: Discussions with the Ministry of Education's Early and Preschool Education Department addressed plans for training quality assurance experts in February 2024.
  • Professional Development and Retention: Working meetings explored strategies to enhance educator professional development, establish performance-based salary policies, and support the retention and growth of qualified personnel in the sector.

SDSURF experts remain committed to this complex and collaborative effort. Their periodic visits to Georgia will continue to foster information exchange and coordinated actions aimed at achieving sustainable improvements in early childhood education systems.
